Kilmore Quay is a picturesque traditional Irish fishing village located on the coast of County Wexford in the South East of Ireland. Thatched houses line the main street adding to the charm of the village. The fabulous Saltee Islands which host one of the largest bird sanctuaries in Europe, lie just off the coast. With a host of activities and attractions on offer, including an award-winning children’s playground, walking trails, crafts, boat trips, snorkelling, diving, sailing, shore & boat angling and an array of wildlife attractions, there is plenty to see and do.
With over 40 different species of fish caught in the waters around Kilmore Quay, the variety and the quality of fish is amongst the best in Northwest Europe. Fishing is therefore one of the main industries and sporting activities in the area. There are a number of charter vessels available offering angling trips and cruises around the Saltee Islands. For those of you arriving into Kilmore Quay by sea, our slipway is one of the best in Ireland. There is 24hr access and berthing available in our Blue Flag marina. Current information pertaining to the marina is available from the Harbour Master.
Naturally seafood is a speciality in our local eateries. You will find the best quality local seafood on offer at the takeaways, bars and restaurants in the area. There are also plenty of excellent alternatives to seafood served in all the establishments. Should you need a place to stay, there is also a range of accommodation providers to cater for your needs from self-catering options to bed and breakfasts.
“Spent every summer of the ’70s in KQ. And even though -like everywhere else – it has ‘moved with the times’ it is still a really world class place to visit, admire and relax :)”
